I was born in Melbourne, Australia, and studied at Melbourne University, winning both the Melba and Elsa Stralia scholarships.

After graduating I joined the Australian Opera as principal soprano. My studies continued in Germany with Frederick Husler and Yvonne Rodd-Marling, and during this time I joined Aachen Opera and appeared as a guest artist throughout Europe.

I returned to Australia for the Sutherland Williamson season at the Australian Opera where I sang La Traviata (alternating with Joan Sutherland and singing with Luciano Pavarotti), L’Elisir d’Amore (with Pavarotti), La Sonnambula (with Sutherland and Pavarotti), as well as Eugene Onegin and Faust. I remained in Australia for the Williamson Theatres as well as appearing on TV and the ABC.

Following this I moved back to London, teaching singing at the Royal Academy of Music and singing in opera and concert in Europe, the USA and Australia.

I sang over 40 principal operatic soprano roles, as well as a wide range of oratorio and concert repertoire ranging from Bach to Berio, with such conductors as Haitink, Bonynge, Mackerras, Sawallisch, Kraus and Schuricht. I have broadcast on TV and radio throughout the world and have made many recordings.
